Germany (May 2003)Glauchau: End of the 80s Glauchau was one of the best spots for taking photographs of the last steam locomotives in East Germany. The engines of class 58.30 had been already seperated from service in 1981, but some 50.35 were still in service. The duties were concentrated on the lines Glauchau - Rochlitz and St.Egidien - Oelsnitz, whereby the locomotives still reached Karl-Marx-Stadt and Zwickau too. Top act were the heavy sand courses on the line Glauchau - Rochlitz in the delightful valley of the river Mulde. So it was no surprise that whole crowds of railway enthusiasts came here before steam ended in the early 90s...
