The two important Saxonian classes for the narrow gauge lines were the IV K and the bigger VI K - a reason to remember them together on one site...

Freital-Potschappel: After close down of the mostly lines around Wilsdruff in 1972 the operation area for the class VI K was reduced to zero. The last engines were dumped at the station Potschappel. To keep the workers of the line busy the DR did not close down the narrow gauge repair shop at the station. It had now not only to repair the standard gauge lorries, but also all of the narrow gauge cars from the line Hainsberg - Kipsdorf. This was possible because of the already existing transfer line from Hainsberg to Potschappel, which was build in 1913 to connect the lines of Hainsberg and Wilfdruff. It was never used for regular trains, only for transfer, but exactly this make it very interesting. To get a train on this line was a little difficult, because they were only running once or twice a week. In December 2002 the last narrow gauge train left Freital-Potschappel...

In 2001 old German train security technology was still in use here...   ... together with modern light-signals - what a curios thing!
