Schoeneweide: Because of political reason there were no regular steam trains in Berlin since the middle of the 80ies. Berlin had to be a modern socialist city. However, the Berlin' depots kept some steam engines for heating and special services until the 90ies. With many luck these steam locomotives could be observed hauling short freight trains between the shunting yards of the city.

52.8177 and 52.2614 - both waiting for new tasks in their home-depot Schoeneweide.   52.4966 has survived and is now a part of the German Technical Museum in Berlin.

52.8100 is waiting with a concrete train at Zepernick in the north-east of Berlin.   52.8101 is hauling a long container train from Frankfurter Allee to Pankow.

The late 80ies: To reduce repair-costs some engines left Meiningen works without some components - 52.8129 has lost it's smoke deflectors!   Daily change of the heating engine at Wuhlheide Rbf: 52.8079 (right) will be replaced by 52.8055 (left).

52.8097 coming back from re-coaling in the depot Lichtenberg. The new coal will last the next two days.   A very special train: 80.009, bought by a Schoeneweide' loco driver, is hauling a last regular train to Schoenefeld.
Last goodbye: Most of the stock of Schoeneweide' depot came together on 19.04.1992 for a last picture: 44.2350, 52.8087, 52.2195, 52.8079, 52.8152, 52.8177, 52.8118 and 52.8055. All the 52's were saved for museum, but 44.2350 was scraped some weeks later...
