Wilischthal: The breakdown of the line Wilischthal - Thum in May 1972 seemed to be the end of narrow gauges in Wilisch-valley - but it wasn't so: 1.3 km of line were still in use for transports from the paper-factory at Wilischthal. Because of the low gradients and the less transports the trains could be hauled by small diesel-engines instead of expansive steam-engines. In 1992 the paper-factory was closed down - and the rest of the line with it.

Short time before this the railway-enthusiasts of "IG Preßnitztalbahn"-club organized a last return of steam. Saxonian class IV K came back for one day. Beautiful winter weather and interesting trains made this day very successful...

The two diesel engines at Wilischthal:
199.007-6 and 199.008-4.
99.1586-9 with a freight train at Wilischthal station.

At the line beside the river Wilisch.   Short break at the paper factory.

Dumped IV K-class engines 99.1568-7 and 99.1542-2 waiting for transport to their new home Jöhstadt!   The way back: the small stone bridge near the paper factory.

The shot of the day: the great bridge over the river Zschopau...   ...was crossed by all kind of trains for photo.
