Zittau: The depot was founded in 1879. Since the privatizing of the Deutsche Reichsbahn in 1994 it was closed down step by step. In 1999 the final: It's all gone!

This is a reason to remember the good old times of steam at Zittau. The depot was not only famous for it's Saxonian classes XII H² (DRG 38.2) and XI HT (DRG 94). In 1944 the first brandnew locomotives of class 52 came here and stayed until the late 80's. Up to 20 engines were here at the same time, some of them still in the un-reconstructed version. In 1988 steam services ended officially, but the locomotives came still out an the lines until 1989. So it was 52.8195-1 that had to haule the last passanger trains in october 1989.
