Gniezno (Gnesen): In autum 1989 the last locomotives of class Ty43 (DRG-42) in Gniezno were replaced by class Ty2 (DRG-52). But this was not very logical, because just one and a half year later the class Ty2 was dumped. Diesel-locomotives took their place and some of the former steam-lines northbound of Gnesen were closed down.

In February 1991 four steam engines were still in use. In spring of 1991 three Ty2's were overhauled, but they never came in service anymore. But not only the services of the steamers were interesting - there was an interesting repairshop in Gniezno too. Today it's still in use for all the last steam locomotives of PKP.
